PM Modi Emphasizes Shared Responsibility for Indian Ocean Security, Prosperity in Seychelles Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted the Indian Ocean as a shared home during his visit to Seychelles, emphasizing joint responsibility for its security and prosperity. Modi and Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie witnessed the signing of MoUs across various sectors. Modi received Seychelles' highest environmental award, underscoring India's commitment to sustainable development.

The leaders signed agreements in UPI implementation, healthcare, banking, agriculture, and space exploration. Modi highlighted the Indian Ocean's role in nurturing the relationship between India and Seychelles, envisioning it as an 'ocean of opportunity' with ensured maritime security and economic prosperity.

Modi was conferred the 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' award, recognizing his leadership in environmental conservation. He dedicated the award to countries fighting climate change. The visit marked 50 years of Seychelles' independence and the 50th anniversary of India-Seychelles diplomatic relations.

India handed over a 'Made in India' Fast Patrol Vessel and other aid to enhance Seychelles' maritime capabilities. The two nations reviewed progress across key areas, agreeing to accelerate action on commitments, including the inauguration of a Professional and Technical Education Center and solar water pumping systems.
