綠褶菇屬中至大型菇菌，菌蓋呈半球形平展可至寬20公分，為一種有毒不可食用菇類，外表顏色淺不鮮豔，與可食用白色雨傘菇及雞肉絲菇相似，常被混淆。不同點在於綠褶菇菌褶初期為白色，成熟後逐漸轉為灰綠色，誤食後1至3小時會有噁心、嘔吐、腹痛、血便及脫水等腸胃炎型中毒症狀。
