Taiwanese politician Ko-Wen Yeh criticized for distorting past protests in new book

Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko-Wen Yeh's new book, "Moving Forward Towards the Light," has sparked outrage among former New Power Party (NPP) members who accuse him of distorting the truth of the 2018 protests and elevating himself. Critics point to his account of the 2018 Legislative Yuan protest, where he claims to have been resting and found his colleagues gone, while his wife, Hung Tzu-yung, had recently suffered a miscarriage. Yeh's subsequent Facebook post commemorating the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre was met with backlash, with netizens accusing him of hypocrisy and distorting past events.
