국가데이터처는 9일(현지시간) 핀란드 헬싱키에서 핀란드 통계청과 데이터·통계 분야 협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결하고 양자 회의를 개최했다고 11일 밝혔다.

양 기관은 인공지능(AI) 확산과 데이터 기반 정책 수요 증가에 맞춰 데이터 거버넌스, 통계 생산체계 혁신이 필요하다는 데 인식을 같이했다.

이를 위해 데이터·통계 분야 경험과 정보 공유, 행정 자료·최신 데이터 활용 협력, 전문가 교류·양자 회의 개최, 공동 세미나·학술 행사 등을 추진하기로 했다.

한국 측 대표로 나선 정동욱 국가데이터허브정책관은 "이번 협약을 계기로 AI 시대 국제 데이터 거버넌스와 통계 현대화 논의를 함께 주도해나가기를 바란다"고 밝혔다.

마르쿠스 소발라 핀란드 통계청장은 "이번 협력이 양 기관의 데이터 기반 혁신을 위한 이정표가 되기를 바란다"고 화답했다.
