南韓星巴克在「5‧18」光州民主化運動紀念日舉行「坦克日」，令民眾聯想到1980年5月18日南韓軍方對民主示威者的殘酷鎮壓。面對各界斥責與抵制，南韓星巴克母公司新世界集團會長鄭溶鎮就此事公開道歉，但該集團股票仍在今（26）日下跌。
根據《路透》報導，鄭溶鎮表示，南韓星巴克不當的營銷活動傷害並激怒了許多人，他對此高度重視，並將承擔全部責任。
新世界集團股價26日開盤走高，但在鄭溶鎮發表道歉聲明後下跌2.6%。
值得注意的是，新世界集團之前才解僱南韓星巴克執行長孫正鉉及相關負責人，並為活動爭議道歉。
另外南韓內政部長尹昊重也指出，政府部門將停止採購那些「輕視」國家民主歷史的企業產品。
光州民主化運動是於1980年5月18日至27日期間發生在南韓光州及全羅南道地區的民主運動。時任陸軍中將全斗煥下令以武力鎮壓該運動，造成大量平民和學生的死傷。
