駐日代表處晚間表示，李逸洋在會晤中指出，台灣是主權國家，享有專屬經濟海域。此次日菲規劃談判的海域範圍，與台灣專屬經濟海域高度重疊，台灣方面也注意到，日本內閣官房長官木原稔日前在記者會表示，日菲海洋邊界劃定旨在規範締約雙方，不會對第三方產生法律效力。
他進一步表示，台灣在相關重疊專屬經濟海域同樣享有主權權益，希望日方在推動談判過程中適時顧及台灣權益，不能排除或損及台灣權利或利益，應與台灣協商，將台方主張納入考量。
針對中國逕自認定日菲未來談判範圍涵蓋台灣海域部分，及中國享有相關主權權利部分，李逸洋則嚴正駁斥，批評北京再度藉機操作「一中原則」。
他強調，中華民國台灣是主權獨立國家，與中華人民共和國互不隸屬，中國對台毫無主權正當性，台灣領土及相關海域的主權權利不容中國置喙，中國無權代替台灣發言。
