According to law enforcement bodies, the blast occurred near the Chaman Pattak area after an explosive device that had been planted at the railway tracks went off as a passenger train was passing by. Cars parked nearby were also damaged.
The news agency added that three carriages of the train derailed while two more went upturned following the blast. Rescue and relief operation train as well as other vehicles were dispatched to the scene of the incident, the agency reported.
According to Geo TV channel, more than 20 people were injured in the incident. Rescuers arrived at the scene, and a state of emergency was declared at local medical facilities.
