第6號颱風「薔蜜」今晨（3日）3點30分前後登陸日本和歌山縣，成為自1951年起有完整統計以來，75年來第四早登陸日本列島的颱風，造成日本至少23人受傷，「薔蜜」帶來的狂風暴雨，在東京都市中心在內有62個測站降雨破6月紀錄，還有43個氣象站刷新6月陣風紀錄。

根據日本氣象廳觀測，「薔蜜」颱風在今下午2點的中心位置在千葉縣近海，以每小時45公里速度向東北東方移動；「薔蜜」橫掃西日本地區，帶來狂風暴雨；截至下午2點，三重縣尾鷲24小時降雨535.5毫米，打破6月降雨紀錄。

東京都市中心12小時降下173.5毫米，刷新6月紀錄，另外有62個氣象站打破了本月6小時降雨紀錄、28個氣象站打破6月24小時降雨紀錄，此外還有43個氣象站刷新了6月陣風紀錄。

「薔蜜」在日本造成愛知縣、奈良縣、德島縣、宮崎縣、鹿兒島縣和沖繩縣等地至少23傷。其中，沖繩縣傷者人數最多，達17人，1人傷勢嚴重。
