UAE condemns Iranian strikes

The United Arab Emirates on Sunday strongly condemned renewed Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, describing them as a flagrant violation of the two countries' sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security and stability. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its full solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait and expressed support for all measures aimed at preserving their security, stability and the safety of their citizens.

Bahrain says attack reflects pattern of aggression

Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it described as a fresh Iranian attack on the kingdom, saying its territory was once again targeted with ballistic missiles and drones. The ministry said the latest assault confirmed Bahrain's earlier warnings regarding Tehran's actions, adding that Iran had continued its attacks despite international condemnation and previous commitments. It stressed that the repeated strikes would neither impose a new reality nor weaken the kingdom's resolve. Describing the attack as a "dangerous escalation", Bahrain accused Iran of pursuing a deliberate and systematic pattern of aggression against the kingdom's sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents.

Kuwait intercepts two ballistic missiles

Kuwait's Ministry of Defence said its forces detected two hostile ballistic missiles in the country's airspace at dawn and intercepted them in line with standard operational procedures. Meanwhile, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it called repeated and "heinous" Iranian aggression against the country, warning that such actions threaten regional peace and security.

Strikes come after fresh US action against Iran

The attacks came amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iran's Revolutionary Guard launched the missile and drone strikes on Sunday, saying they were in response to recent US airstrikes on Iranian military targets. Earlier, US Central Command said it had struck Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defence sites, drone storage facilities and minelayer capabilities following an attack on a commercial tanker in the Gulf region. US President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement and warned that continued provocations could trigger a stronger American military response.

Strait of Hormuz tensions fuel escalation

The latest developments have unfolded against the backdrop of growing tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical energy shipping routes. A multinational maritime body overseen by the US Navy recently expanded a shipping corridor near Oman to facilitate maritime traffic through the waterway. Iran has opposed the arrangement and insists it should retain control over passage through the strait, raising fears of a wider confrontation in the Gulf.

Revolutionary Guard issues warning

Claiming responsibility for the attacks, Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it had targeted Al Asad Air Base in Kuwait and warned that further violations of the ceasefire would lead to a "complete halt" in ongoing diplomatic efforts. According to a report by Khaleej Times, the UAE reiterated its unwavering support for Bahrain and Kuwait while stressing the importance of safeguarding regional stability amid the latest escalation. The report noted that both Gulf nations condemned the attacks and vowed to take all necessary measures to protect their national security. The Revolutionary Guard, which oversees Iran's ballistic missile programme and answers directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, is believed to be playing an increasingly influential role in Tehran's security and military strategy.
