I don't think anyone in their right mind would have expected such an emphatic half of football from the hosts.

Paraguay have barely had a sniff, the USA absolutely bossing them all over the park.

Christian Pulisic is dominating down the left, his fast feet and quick thinking causing all sorts of problems for the visitors.

And in Folarin Balogun, they have a striker who is on top of the world and capable of finishing from just about anywhere.

What a half of football.

BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT GOAL!

A spectacular finish from a man who is having a spectacular half of football!

Folarin Balogun out-muscled one defender, turned the next and curled a superb shot into the top corner.

It's Tillman who passes the ball down a sliderule.

Omar Alderete missed with the slide tackle, Gustavo Gómez couldn't keep up, and the Monaco man has a first half double that has sent the hosts into delirium.

The US are looking seriously impressive; we’ll have our work cut out containing them next week. Let’s hope Paraguay can show us a way out in the 2nd half.

In truth, Paraguay have been trash in this half.

But this USA team looks fired up and confident and clever on the ball.

Remember, one win will likely be enough to get through the group as a third-placed finisher so, unless Paraguay pick their ideas up, we may be looking at Australia's outlet here.

Oh my word! Sergiño Dest has just put his marker on toast, scraped him up off the floor and done him again with a look-away flick to spark another attack.

The ball eventually falls for Weston McKennie in the penalty area after some more interplay and he's denied by a good save by Orlando Gill standing tall in his six yard box.

This time it's down the left, Sergiño Dest driving to the byline and sending in a low cross that is dealt with by the keeper.

But the speed at which the USA is attacking and the ease at which they are getting in behind must be concerning the Paraguay team.

He looks like he's in a fair amount of pain - just clipped on the Achilles there.

Christian Pulisic got down the left side and cut back towards the penalty area.

Balogun was arriving — the pass was so perfect he didn't even need to break stride — and he side-foots it home!

Brilliant, brilliant goal from the United States, who are cutting Paraguay to shreds left, right and centre at the moment!
