Study Finds High Pesticide and Heavy Metal Contamination in Betel Quid Sold in Taiwan

A study by National Cheng Kung University and the Sunshine Foundation found that 84.8% of betel quid samples in Taiwan had pesticide residues, including banned substances. Heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and arsenic were also detected in over 80% of samples, raising concerns about health risks and the need for better regulation.
