Kimi Antonelli Claims Third Consecutive Win with Masterful Miami Grand Prix Performance

Kimi Antonelli secured his third consecutive Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix, delivering a composed performance to hold off McLaren's Lando Norris. The 19-year-old Mercedes driver overcame an early setback to beat Norris into second place, with Oscar Piastri third and George Russell fourth. Max Verstappen recovered from a first-lap spin to finish fifth, while Charles Leclerc slipped to sixth after a dramatic final-lap spin. Antonelli extended his championship lead over Russell to 20 points, marking the best performance of his breakthrough season.

Supreme Court Rules Louisiana's Majority-Black Congressional Map Unconstitutional

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 along partisan lines that Louisiana's 2024 congressional map with a second majority-Black district is an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. The decision weakens Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which protected minority voting power in redistricting. A group of non-African-American voters, supported by the Trump administration, challenged the map. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion stating Section 2 does not justify race-based redistricting.

What does Britain need from Labour? Not another new PM, but a government with the guts to take radical action | Polly Toynbee

There’s no point searching for a saviour without a genuine change in direction. Real courage is necessary – because Labour still has time to fix what is brokenIf not Keir Starmer, then who? That’s altogether the wrong question. What matters is not who but what comes next. A black cloud of near terminal despair has fallen upon Labour MPs, but seeking a saviour is a useless endeavour until they decide what it is they want to do.The party is facing a cataclysm in next week’s local elections. MPs will watch their councillors, the backbone of their local parties, vanish. Can they avoid panic? In their slough of despond they need to stop and think. Look at it this way: they have three full years ahead with a vast working majority of 165. They have the power to do everything the country most needs. Sunk so low in the polls, they have nothing to lose and nothing to fear (but fear itself). This chance may never come their way again, and they will regret it for ever if they throw it away, vainly chasing lost popularity through overcaution, trying to appease everyone while pleasing no one. By starting again unconstrained they can regain some lost respect.Polly Toynbee is a Guardian columnistGuardian Newsroom: Can Labour come back from the brink? On Thursday 30 April, join Gaby Hinsliff, Zoe Williams, Polly Toynbee and Rafael Behr as they discuss how much of a threat Labour faces from the Green party and Reform UK – and whether Keir Starmer can survive as leader. Gutsy Hong Kong star Ceci Lee eyeing more World Cup glory days after heavy crash

Bruised but unbowed, Ceci Lee Sze-wing is steeling herself for another assault on global honours days after she dramatically crashed during her UCI Track World Cup campaign in Hong Kong. An elimination race silver medallist on her home track last Friday, Lee tumbled following a collision while competing in the same discipline as part of the omnium competition two days later. But in Malaysia on Friday, the Hongkonger will be back on her bike and hunting a fourth podium finish from this year’s...

Gagauzia Head Says Criminal Case Linked to Election Funding is Politically Motivated

Moldova's Gagauz Autonomy head Evghenia Gutsul faces criminal charges related to alleged illegal funding of her 2023 election campaign. After a court session in Chisinau, Gutsul claimed the case is politically motivated, stating she is being tried because she leads Gagauzia and met with Russian President Putin. She accused President Maia Sandu of ordering the prosecution to demonstrate judicial performance. Gutsul was detained at Chisinau Airport in March and has been stripped of defense rights, according to her lawyer. She won the Gagauz head election in 2023 and pursued closer relations with Russia, prompting tensions with the Moldovan government.
