Hotel guests at a Travelodge in Newham, east London were given keys to occupied rooms twice in one week. John Nowell entered a room where someone was showering, while a colleague heard voices and avoided entering. Travelodge says staff are being retrained and an independent review is underway. The incidents follow a 2022 attack at a Maidenhead branch where staff gave an attacker a key to a woman's room.
