Brazilian triathlete Mara Flavia Araujo, 38, died during the swimming leg of Ironman Texas at Lake Woodlands on April 19, 2026. Rescue teams were alerted around 7:30 a.m. and found her body around 9:40 a.m. after a search with sonar and dive teams. Her last Instagram post, showing her preparing at a pool hours before the race, has resurfaced and deeply affected fans. A friend said she wasn't feeling well before the race and was advised not to compete.
