Ship Seized by Unknown Personnel Near UAE, Headed to Iranian Waters
A ship anchored off the UAE coast near the Strait of Hormuz has been taken by unauthorised personnel and is heading towards Iranian waters, according to the UKMTO. This incident follows a pattern of vessel seizures in the region amid tensions between Iran and the US, with Iran capturing several ships, including the sanctioned tanker Ocean Koi, allegedly for disrupting oil exports. The Strait of Hormuz, crucial for global oil shipments, has seen increased militarization, with Iran asserting control and the US maintaining a naval blockade, despite a fragile ceasefire.
