A 19-year-old man from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was apprehended in Karnah sector of Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday soon after he crossed the heavily guarded LoC.
“Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of Army and J&K police intercepted the individual near Simri village in Kupwara and prevented any potential security breach,” Army said.
Police said the intruder, Assad Khan, from Muzaffarabad, was being questioned to ascertain the circumstances under which he entered India.
Khan is the second person from PoK to have been detained near LoC in Kashmir in the past two weeks. On June 1, one Zeeshan Ahmad (22) was detained for crossing LoC into Uri sector of Baramulla district.
