An arrest warrant has been issued for a 45-year-old man in connection to a violent assault in Western Sydney on Saturday.
An image of Corum Ash was released by NSW Police on Sunday evening.
Mr Ash is wanted on an "outstanding warrant for the offence of attempted murder".
"Ash is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170–175 centimetres tall, of medium build, with black short hair, black eyes and is unshaven," police said in a statement.
They added that he travels on public transport and visits the Carlingford, Fairfield areas and its surrounds.
The public has been warned not to approach Mr Ash but to contact police.
In the early hours of yesterday morning, a 74-year-old man was found unconscious with a head injury on the side of the road near the intersection of Orchardleigh Street and Junction Road in Yennora.
He remains in a critical condition after surgery at Westmead Hospital, with his family by his side.
The local father-of-three had left his house about 30 minutes before the incident, and was out on his usual early morning walk.
A member of the public called Triple Zero (000), with police and ambulance quickly responding.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was later taken to hospital.
Detective Acting Inspector Brenton Sommerville said at the time that police were treating the incident as an alleged assault.
"This is a 74-year-old male, a vulnerable member of the community, in what appears to be a cowardly and callous attack," he said.
