Authorities allege that Tyler Robinson carried out the attack, which occurred shortly after noon local time. Referring to reports about the federal response, Owens wrote: “Were we ever provided a list of which FBI agent were on the ground at UVU within 16 minutes of the explosive going off?” She continued by questioning the speed of the FBI's arrival. “That’s actually a fascinating admission given the fact that the FBI office is located in Salt Lake City— a 45 minute drive away. What were the agents doing so close to UVU that day? Who were the first agents to arrive?” Her comments quickly sparked debate online. One social media user responded by pointing out that the FBI operates a Provo Resident Agency under its Salt Lake City Field Office, which covers Utah County. Owens rejected that explanation, replying: “You realize that’s a tiny little shared office, with 4-8 employees max right? And that it’s 15 minutes away from UVU, fastest route? Are you suggesting this is the team that had secured UVU 16 minutes after the shot went off?” At the time of writing, federal authorities have not publicly responded to Owens' latest claims.

She has also challenged prosecutors' account that Robinson concealed a rifle inside his skinny jeans, arguing the footage raises new doubts about that explanation. Owens has expanded her criticism beyond the shooting itself. She recently questioned why Charlie Kirk's burial details were not made public, posting on X: “Where is Charlie Kirk’s body buried? Why do I get the sense he was quietly cremated?” While Kirk's burial location has remained private, his memorial service drew several prominent political figures, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Owens' latest comments also follow a recent court hearing in which prosecutors argued that DNA evidence recovered from a rifle, along with an alleged text confession, strongly supports trying Robinson for Kirk's murder.
