Two FIRs have been registered in cases involving obstructing government work, assaulting police personnel, and damaging property.
FIR in Parliament Street police station has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Arms Act, 1959, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPP Act), Section 223(b) BNS – Disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant or obstruction of government work.
Complaints filed by the Delhi Police allege that the accused unlawfully gathered and disrupted public order, obstructed government work, engaged in violent activities, and damaged public property.
Delhi Police released a statement accusing protesters of displaying "unruly, aggressive and violent behaviour" during the CJP protest and attacking security personnel, damaging government vehicles and public property.
"During today's protest by CJP in the New Delhi area, the protesters displayed unruly, aggressive and violent behaviour. Despite repeated warnings and lawful directions issued by the police, they refused to disperse and deliberately violated the prohibitory orders in force," the police said in the statement.
"During the scuffle, around 60 protesters were also reported to get injured. The medico-legal examination (MLC) of the remaining injured police personnel is underway," the statement added.
According to the police, the youth protestors also caused extensive damage to public property.
"The violent mob also caused extensive damage to public property. Around 15 to 20 government vehicles, along with other government property, were vandalised during the incident," it added.
Meanwhile, CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke continued his protest at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday.
Delhi Police issues traffic advisory
The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory on Tuesday, warning of traffic restrictions and diversions in view of demonstration, protest or rallies at Kishan Ghat.
It advised commuters to avoid the affected routes around Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road and adjoining areas. "Those travelling to the Airport or Railway Stations are requested to plan their journeys well in advance," it said.
