England Fans Face Minimum £2,600 for World Cup Last-16 Tickets Against Mexico

England fans hoping to attend the World Cup last-16 showdown with Mexico face paying a minimum of £2,600 for one ticket on Fifa's resale site.

The Three Lions booked a date with the co-hosts at the Estadio Azteca with a 2-1 victory over DR Congo on Wednesday.

The game, which kicks off at 01:00 BST on Monday, will be broadcast live on BBC One.

Fixtures in Mexico City have resulted in some of the highest resale prices, coupled with low supply, throughout the tournament, with home supporters eager to watch their team in action.

Before the draw in December, the England Supporters' Travel Club was given an allocation of 4,000 tickets for the match at the 80,824 stadium.

All were sold at the ballot stage in January and no further tickets will be issued by Fifa so resale sites are the only way for fans to now get into the game.

Before England's match against DR Congo kicked off only 250 tickets were listed, which went up slightly after the game to 273.

But overnight the number rose to 429, with many tickets listed in the supporter value categories behind one of the goals.

The cheapest single ticket was a $295 (£224) supporter value ticket listed at $3,000 (£2,280). With the Fifa purchase fee on top, the price is £2,622 - almost 12 times face value.

In total, 63 tickets in the three 'supporter' categories have appeared. It is unclear if these seats are part of the allocation sold to the England Supporters' Travel Club.

In category four, the cheapest with a face value of $170 (£129), the total price of a ticket comes in at $5,175 (£3,933) - 30 times the face value.

A category three ticket in the upper tier, with an original price of $350 (£266), was listed at $3,600 (£2,736). After the Fifa purchase fee of $450 (£342) the charge was $4,140 (£3,146).

Category two stand at $4,830 (£3,671) from a face value of $450 (£342).

Cheapest category one tickets, originally priced $1,595 (£1,212), come in at a cost of $5,905 (£4,488).

There are many more expensive listings on the Fifa resale site, those these prices are set by seller and may be reduced.

A category one ticket in the lower bowl, with an original price of $1,064 (£809), is listed at $31,712 (£24,101) - plus a Fifa fee of $4,757 (£3,615) on top.

The cheapest ticket available on SeatGeek, an independent marketplace where people can list and sell tickets, was priced at $3,887 (£2,954) including fees.

This is in the same area as the category three ticket on the Fifa resale, with a face value in the region of $350 (£266).

Hotel prices in Mexico City are very cheap compared to the United States, however, with wide available of rooms available under £80 for two nights around the fixture.
