りくりゅうはミラノ五輪後の4月に現役引退を発表した。今後はアイスショーへの出演などを通してペア競技の普及に取り組み、将来的には指導者として後進の育成に携わる意欲を見せている。今夏には、2人がプロデュースするカップル競技中心のアイスショー「THE DESTINY」の開催も発表されている。
