Police raiding a funeral home in Texas found a Home Depot bucket filled with organs, according to reports.

The operation unfolded at A Community Funeral Home in Houston’s Third Ward back in November, as part of an investigation that has led to the director’s arrest this week.

Footage of the raid recorded by ABC13 showed officers with the Houston Police Department carrying out boxes of cremated human remains from inside the business.

Charging documents obtained by the outlet said a total of 48 boxes of remains were recovered during the operation. Police say that some families have been awaiting the return of their loved ones’ remains since 2023.

Unique Green now faces charges including theft and forgery, according to ABC13, and is accused of forging documents to obtain a funeral director and embalming license.

Green is also accused of stealing the estate of an elderly man whose funeral services the home was due to arrange. Lawrence Gammon, 78, passed away from natural causes in June 2025, according to Harris County court records obtained by The Houston Chronicle.

Legal documents obtained by Click2Houston allege Green opened an account named “Estate of Lawrence E. Gammon” using a falsified death certificate and gained access to the dead man’s personal accounts.

The funeral home owner then allegedly transferred around $2.2 million from Gammon’s bank accounts and stole his home and three vehicles, while claiming to be his widow.

“When we bury a loved one, we cry together, we smile together, we laugh about good times, and we remember a life well lived,” chief of consumer fraud at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Adam Brodrick told Click2Houston. “Green has effectively robbed this family of that experience.”

When police carried out their raid on A Community Funeral Home in November, Gammon’s remains were said to have been among those recovered by police.

The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office confirmed to Click2Houston that Green was arrested Tuesday afternoon with a bond set at $800,000.

Months before the arrest, Green’s attorney told ABC13 in a statement that their client denies any wrongdoing in the matter.

“Ms Green categorically denies any wrongdoing and is confident that the full facts will demonstrate that she acted lawfully and appropriately at all times,” the statement said.

“She looks forward to being fully vindicated once she has the opportunity to present evidence and be heard in court."

The Independent has contacted the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office for comment.

Indigenous Leaders Say Crime Groups Are Taking Communities Hostage on Brazil-Peru Border

Indigenous leaders on the Brazil-Peru border report their communities are "taken hostage" by organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking, illegal logging, and mining. The Asháninka people, facing severe threats, appealed to the Brazilian government for permanent security presence and protection, warning of disastrous self-defense if the state fails to act.
