India Extends Free Aadhaar Document Update Service Until June 14, 2027

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the free online Aadhaar document update facility on the myAadhaar portal for another year. Aadhaar holders can now update their documents in their UID card through the myAadhaar portal for free of cost up to June 14, 2026, UIDAI said in an office memorandum (OM) on May 13, 2026.

According to the OM, UIDAI said the extension has been given after receiving a positive response from Aadhaar card holders who have been updating their details online.

In an update posted on X (formerly Twitter), UIDAI has also notified that the mAadhaar app will be retired soon and Aadhaar holders can now download the new Aadhaar app. The new app offers features such as secure QR-based Aadhaar sharing, enhanced privacy controls and seamless access to Aadhaar services, making the digital identity experience simpler and more convenient.

Online service, which earlier incurred a fee, is now being offered free of cost until June 14, 2027, exclusively through the myAadhaar portal.

“It has been decided to extend the facility for one more year, i.e., from June 15, 2026, to June 14, 2027. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost through myAadhaar portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ up to June 14, 2027, the OM said.

How to submit Aadhaar documents online?

Step 1: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/, and log in using your Aadhaar number and one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.

Step 2: Check your identity and address details displayed in your profile.

Step 3: If the details displayed in your profile are incorrect, take action as described in response to Question 5 below.

Step 4: If the details displayed in your profile are correct, please click on the tab ‘I verify that the above details are correct’.

Step 5: Select the identity document from the drop-down menu that you wish to submit.

Step 6: Upload your identity document (size less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG or PDF)

Step 7: Select the address document from the drop-down menu that you wish to submit.

Step 8: Upload your address document (size less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG or PDF). Submit your consent.

Aadhaar card update charges are as follows-

1. Biometric update

(Update of fingerprint, iris and photo)

First or second update between age 15-17 years: Free

Other biometric updates: Rs 125
