Lovlina Borgohain Secures Silver in Commonwealth Games 2026 Boxing Final

India's Lovlina Borgohain settled for the silver medal in the women's 75kg boxing event after losing 1-4 on points to Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree in the Commonwealth Games 2026 final on Saturday. It was Lovlina's first Commonwealth Games medal and the seventh medal for India's boxing team in this edition. Along with Jadumani Singh, she is one of only two Indian boxers to finish with silver so far. Lovlina entered the ring with her left knee heavily strapped, which affected her movement in the opening round. Greentree made the better start and took the round 4-1.

The Australian suffered a cut and was seen bleeding during the second round, leading to a brief stoppage. After the bout resumed, Lovlina landed a few clean punches and claimed the round 4-1. Going into the final round, three of the five judges had the contest level. The third round saw both boxers exchange punches, but Greentree edged it 4-1 to secure the gold medal. The Olympic bronze medallist had received a bye into the quarterfinals before defeating Tuvalu's Tarona Taafaki 5-0 in the semifinals to book her place in the title clash.
