Tasmania Police say a man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car driven by a woman he knew.
Police said a woman, 25, drove a white station wagon "at speed into the front yard of a house in Bounty Street", Warrane, on Hobart's eastern shore, at 1:12am today, "striking a 29-year-old man".
"The woman and man are known to each other," police said in a statement.
"The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.
"The woman is in custody as investigations into the cause of the crash continue."
