Police Release Mug Shots of Suspect in Fatal Stabbing of High School Student in Gwangju
Gwangju police have released the mug shots of Jang Yoon-gi, 23, accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old female high school student and wounding a male student of the same age on May 5. The suspect briefly apologized but remained silent on his motives. The case was transferred to the prosecution on Thursday. Jang had been reported for stalking by a Vietnamese national, who had left the area before he could act against her, leading him to target the students out of anger. Investigators claim Jang had prepared to murder the complainant before the stabbing. The male victim was seriously injured while trying to help the female victim, a stranger to both.
