SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean unit of France's Renault S.A., said Monday its May sales plunged from a year earlier on weak demand in both the domestic and overseas markets.
The automaker sold 5,913 vehicles last month, down 40 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a release.
Domestic sales fell 31.2 percent on-year to 2,893 last month, while overseas sales tumbled 46.6 percent to 3,020 units.
In the domestic market, the Grand Koleos SUV was the company's best-selling model with 1,248 units sold. The Arkana coupe-style SUV was the top-performing model in the overseas market with 1,308 units.
Renault Korea said it is optimizing production and shipping schedules to respond to global market uncertainty and plans to strengthen customer outreach through roadshows and test-driving events across the country.
