Russia-Egypt agricultural trade up over 15% in Jan-Apr 2026

Mutual trade in agricultural products between Russia and Egypt grew by more than 15% in the first four months of 2026, the Russian Agriculture Ministry reported. The announcement followed a bilateral meeting between Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut and Egyptian Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk on the sidelines of the All-Russian Grain Forum.

"Egypt is one of Russia's key partners in the agricultural sector. Between January and April, mutual trade in agri-food products increased by over 15%. Traditionally, Russia exports grain, oilseeds, and pulses to Egypt. We are ready to increase supplies of mineral fertilizers, which are also showing positive dynamics. In turn, Russia imports fruits, vegetables, and berries from Egypt," the statement read.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized Russia's interest in maintaining a high level of trade and increasing grain exports. Specifically, the ministry identified the development of exchange trading as a promising area of cooperation.

"We are ready to support Egypt's food security not only through product supplies but also by enhancing production efficiency. This includes the exchange of modern technologies in crop production, livestock farming, land reclamation, water desalination, and genetics, as well as the export of fertilizers and plant protection products," Lut noted.

The ministers also discussed joint investment projects and other areas of cooperation, expressing mutual interest in further developing the agricultural partnership.
