All week we've been told that Australia is the underdog, the weakest side in the group, the easy beats.

Well, that all seems silly now.

The Aussie fans are in full voice, but the Turkish fans look stunned.

75': Metcalfe's long-range strike gives Socceroos 2-0 lead

CONNOR METCALFE, WHAT A HIT SON! WHAT A HIT!!!!!

Türkiye dominating this second half, but the Socceroos are able to break and Metcalfe gets on the ball and runs through to the edge of the box.

Metcalfe then unleashes a rasping low strike into the bottom corner.

Unbelievable stuff. Poppa's boys keep finding a way!

Meanwhile, the Socceroos have also made some changes with Tete Yengi coming on for Mo Toure, while Jason Geria replaces Jacob Italiano.

Patrick Beach is there on hand at the near post to deny him.

While all the other players were having their government mandated drinks break, Toure lay prone on the BC Place turf.

He received treatment, and then got to his feet, but looked worse for wear.

But's he's smashed some pickle juice and is back out there.

67': Toure comes up limping after a break attempt

Oh no, a bit of an injury concern here for the Socceroos.

Mo Toure is once again breaking forward after some sustained pressure from Türkiye, but he comes up limping.

Toure feeling behind his left calf, but at this stage it looks to be cramp.

It's good timing for him as we go into the second-half hydration break, but I'm not sure if we'll see Toure after the interval.

65': Okon-Engstler denies Çalhanoğlu on the edge of the box

Australia defending absolutely desperately here as Türkiye turns the screws.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu looks like he's about to unleash a ball from the edge of the box and Paul Okon-Engstler makes a tremendous challenge.

The timing on that is perfect because he's somehow avoided giving away a free kick.

Not a bad decision there because Irankunda was starting to look a little bit tired there.

Kenan Yıldızlooking extremely dangerous down the left side here.

He goes one on one with Jacob Italiano and the tricky footwork of the Turkish winger draws a foot out from Italiano, and the Aussie right back is lucky not to give away a penalty there.

It would've been interesting to see what the call would've been had Yıldız gone down inside the box.

Brilliant stuff from Australia's keeper as Arda Güler went low to his right with a good free kick.

Jacob Italiano also excellent after the save, denying one of the Türkiye defenders with a late challenge.

A few of the Türkiye defenders call for a handball after an Aussie clearance, but their pleas go unanswered.

Can the Aussies get one of these set pieces right?

Aiden O'Neill puts in a long ball to the back post and Harry Souttar has a good run at it but his header is saved by Uğurcan Çakır.

Souttar absolutely towers over everyone inside the penalty box.

Mo Toure was actually inches from getting his toe on the Souttar header to divert the ball from the path of the goalkeeper.

The Socceroos once again easing into this half after a dominant start from Türkiye after the break.

Socceroos defenders flinging their bodies all over the place trying to deny shot after shot on goal.

Paul Okon-Engstler gets in the way of a good shot from İsmail Yüksek to force a corner. Harry Souttar able to clear safely from the corner kick.

Türkiye piles on the pressure to start the second half, but this is the danger Australia possesses.

Nestory Irankunda and Mo Toure combine to drive Australia forward.

Toure puts Jordy Bos in, who cuts in off the left side onto the right foot, but his shot is deflected away for a corner.

The counter-attack threat is ever-present with this Australian side.

That counter came after another good save from Patrick Beach to start the second half off a Hakan Çalhanoğlu shot.

Yıldız replaces Barış Alper Yılmaz on the left wing, so will continue the battle down that side with Jacob Italiano.
