A social media influencer has accused a man of allegedly raping her under the pretext of shooting videos, police said on Tuesday.
According to news agency PTI, the 36-year-old complainant, a resident of Burari, came into contact with the accused through a social media platform in 2022.
She alleged that in September that year, the man called her to a hotel in Burari on the pretext of shooting social media reels and sexually assaulted her.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at Burari Police Station on June 10, and an investigation is currently underway, a senior police officer said.
The woman further alleged that the accused subsequently blackmailed her and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
She told police that she later discovered the accused had been using a different name than the one he had initially introduced himself with, following which she severed ties with him.
The woman also alleged that after she distanced herself from the accused, his brother-in-law and another relative contacted her and threatened her.
Police said an FIR has been registered in the matter and further investigation is underway.
