SEOUL, July 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Singapore kicked off a second round of negotiations to upgrade their bilateral free trade agreement (FTA), Seoul's trade ministry said Tuesday.

The two countries launched the two-day talks in Seoul, discussing ways to bolster bilateral trade ties with a focus on the supply chain, green economy, and aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sectors, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.

"With Singapore standing as the second-largest investment and trade partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, we will make efforts to upgrade trade terms through the improvement negotiations, producing results that benefit South Korean firms' entry into the Southeast Asian nation," the trade ministry said.

South Korea and Singapore implemented the bilateral FTA in 2006.

The two countries held the first round of negotiations in Singapore in April.
