To enhance workplace safety, the Taipei City Department of Labor, in collaboration with the Occupational Accident Prevention and Rehabilitation Center and the Taipei Construction Site Self-Management Strategy Alliance, jointly organized the "2024 AI Leading the Way, Smart Manufacturing for Stability Observation Conference." Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an proposed three concrete measures: the "Tech to Reduce Disasters Four-Year Plan," "XR Simulation Training," and the "Summer Heat Outdoor Work Project," all aimed at improving workplace safety in Taipei.

The observation conference featured 17 themed exhibition areas, including the "Multimodal Large Language Model Intelligent Image Recognition System and Fire Detection," which won this year's Labor Safety Award for Safety Innovation, as well as technologies for "Heat Hazard, Thermal Imaging, Opening Protection, and Tower Crane Monitoring." By integrating AI and early warning systems, the aim is to prevent tragic incidents.

Chiang Wan-an stated that Taipei has officially entered an era of major construction advancements over the past three years, with ongoing urban renewal, six subway lines under construction, market renovations, public housing development, and the establishment of Nvidia's overseas headquarters. Ensuring the safety of workers in Taipei must be reflected in every concrete action. Therefore, the city government has proposed three specific measures.

First, promoting the "Tech to Reduce Disasters Four-Year Plan." The city government requires large-scale engineering projects to gradually adopt disaster reduction technologies and equipment, enhancing construction site safety through intelligent management, protecting the safety of construction personnel, and improving the overall occupational working environment.

Second, promoting "XR Simulation Training." Two years ago, Taipei pioneered the XR Simulation Occupational Safety Training Center. Through simulating high-risk safety scenarios such as falls from height, collapses, electric shocks, and oxygen deprivation, it aims to enhance workers' risk identification and emergency response capabilities, making safety education more relevant to actual work sites.

Third, launching the "Summer Heat Outdoor Work Project." In response to the challenges posed by extreme weather and high temperatures, the city government requires employers to implement cooling measures, provide adequate drinking water and rest periods. Additionally, the "Safety Counselor" mechanism will proactively enter construction sites to provide professional assistance, reducing the risks associated with outdoor work in high temperatures.

Director of the Department of Labor, Wang Chiu-tung, stated that the city government will continue to implement the tech-driven disaster reduction plan and calls on all construction industry owners and site supervisors to jointly embrace smart technology, working together to protect worker safety, strive for zero occupational accidents, and uphold the core value of dignified labor.
