川普在川習會落幕後，曾提及將與賴總統通話，外界關注是否與軍售議題有關，此外美國海軍部代理部長高雄（Hung Cao）日前表示，美國正暫停一項價值140億美元的對台軍售案，台美關係與軍售議題備受關注。
卓榮泰今天在專訪表示，台美在各個層級的溝通、聯繫都非常暢通，美國在台協會（AIT）處長谷立言也扮演傳遞雙方溝通的第一線，若賴總統與川普將會通話，相信總統府會持續關注，「那就請潘孟安秘書長趕快守著電話」。
卓榮泰說，綜合美國多位國會領袖在內的說法，美國對台灣的政策不會改變，而且也不會同意任何以武力或強迫方式來改變台灣的現狀，還呼籲美國政府堅守1982年的對台6項保證，以及能夠儘快地批准後續140億美元的對台軍售。
他表示，相信美國知道雙方在世界經濟科技上擁有共同利益，維持台灣目前的社會制度、民主制度以及生產力道才是世界真正利益的核心，一旦認識到這一點，台美雙方友誼與合作將在現在基礎上往更好方向前進。
對於目前的軍購特別預算進度，卓榮泰表示，現在第一批的發價書已經完成預算編製，第2批發價書也將促請國防部要求美方，儘速在程序中完成。
