U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that Washington and Beijing have made "fantastic" trade deals as he held the second and last day of bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Trump made the remarks during a meeting with Xi at Zhongnanhai, the central complex of the top Chinese leadership that houses offices and residences of senior Communist Party and government officials, including the Chinese president.

"This has been an incredible visit. I think a lot of good has come up," he said. "We've made some fantastic trade deals."

He did not elaborate on the deals. But in an interview with Fox News, Trump said that China has committed to purchasing U.S. soybeans, oil and liquefied natural gas, as well as 200 Boeing jets.

When it comes to Iran, Trump said he and Xi "feel very similar."

"We don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. We want the straits open," he said, referring to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for energy shipments that has been effectively choked off amid the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

Noting his long-running ties with the Chinese president, Trump claimed that he and Xi had settled "a lot of different problems that other people wouldn't have been able to settle."

"The relationship is a very strong one," he said.

After having tea, Trump and Xi were set to have a luncheon meeting at Zhongnanhai.

The venue for Friday's talks drew much attention due to its symbolism. Situated close to the Forbidden City, Zhongnanhai was where then U.S. President Richard Nixon met then Chinese leader Mao Zedong in 1972 to lay the groundwork for Sino-U.S. detente.

In the afternoon, Trump will wrap up his three-day trip to China and head back home.

Trump's entourage included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue and other top officials.

The president was also accompanied by prominent American entrepreneurs, including SpaceX and Tesla's Elon Musk, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, Boeing's Kelly Ortberg, Apple's Tim Cook, Micron Technology's Sanjay Mehrotra and Goldman Sachs' David Solomon.

Trump arrived in the Chinese capital Wednesday evening, marking his first trip to China since November 2017. He and Xi last met in person in Busan, South Korea, in late October on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

This week's summit is the first in a series of possible bilateral talks between Trump and Xi this year, including meetings on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen, China, in November and the Group of 20 gathering in Florida in December.

During Thursday's meeting, Trump invited Xi and Chinese first lady Peng Liyuan to visit the White House in Washington on Sept. 24.
