UN Official Stresses Dialogue with New Generations on Global Situation

MOSCOW, May 23. /TASS/. It is necessary to engage in dialogue with new generations about the current global situation; humanity must think about the future, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos told TASS in an interview.

"I think it is very important to address new generations, what is the whole situation, how we have to think about the future chapter of history, of humanity," he emphasized. The senior UN official said that in this regard, he plans to meet with young diplomats and students at MGIMO.

In addition, Moratinos noted that he held many productive meetings on the sidelines of the Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum international economic forum. "There was a very good representation. There was [Russian] Deputy Prime Minister [Marat Khusnullin]. There were different ministers of economy, also from the Central Asia, so it went very well. Then I went to visit the museum (at the Tatarstan’s Commerce and Industry Chamber - TASS) of former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov. I met him when I was foreign minister and it was a very, very moving meeting. And I met with young diplomats, we had an interactive discussion in Kazan, in the fantastic library of Kazan," he added.
