United Airlines Introduces Empty Middle Seat Option for Extra Fee

United Airlines has introduced a new in-flight amenity: the option to pay for an empty middle seat, complete with a shared tray table for aisle and window seat customers. This feature, located in the extra legroom section of its Airbus A321XLR planes, will be available for purchase later this year, though pricing details have not been disclosed.

This seating arrangement is commonly found on European airlines as a short-haul business class offering. United has indicated it may extend this feature to other aircraft beyond the A321XLR in the future.
