이로써 프로배구 여자부는 2026-2027시즌에도 7개 구단 체제로 열린다.
배구연맹은 2일 이사회 및 임시 총회를 열어 페퍼저축은행을 인수해 재창단하는 SOOP의 신규 회원 가입을 안건에 올려 만장일치로 승인했다.
SOOP은 조만간 연고지와 구단명을 확정하고 감독 선임, 외국인 선수 영입 등 다음 시즌 리그 참여 준비에 속도를 낼 참이다.
배구연맹의 공식 보도자료에는 빠졌지만, SOOP은 연맹에 신규 회원 회비 2억원과 특별 발전기금 3억원을 합쳐 5억원을 낼 것으로 알려졌다.
기존 구단들은 또 SOOP 측에 배구 발전을 위한 청사진을 제시해달라고 요청한 것으로 전해졌다.
