A source said police officers and staff from the Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) returned to the flat at midnight on Wednesday after finding the crocodile hours earlier, only to discover more reptiles.
“Officers discovered a large number of animals inside the flat, including many regulated endangered species,” the insider said.
A force spokesman said the animals included turtles, lizards and snakes.
The 35-year-old woman occupying the flat was subsequently arrested.
The case has been passed to the department, and the animals have been taken away for inspection.
