Bas tu mat phasna.” These were among the messages allegedly sent by 33-year-old Twisha Sharma before she was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal, as alleged chats that have now surfaced paint a picture of mounting emotional distress. Twisha, who was from Noida, was found hanging at her husband's house in the Katara Hills area in Bhopal on May 12. Police said the two met through a dating app in 2024 and married in December 2025. According to multiple media reports, purported Instagram chats showed Twisha expressing distress over her situation. In one of the conversations, she wrote: “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna. (I am trapped, bro. You just make sure you don’t get stuck.) Can’t talk much. I will call when the time is right.” The other person replied: “I am worried about you. I love you so much.”

Her family staged a protest outside the residence of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday, seeking a second autopsy. Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations against Samarth Singh and his mother, a former judge. The autopsy conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal stated that Twisha died due to hanging, but also noted simple injury marks on parts of her body. Her family has refused to perform the last rites and insisted that the body be taken to AIIMS Delhi for a repeat examination. Relatives told police that Twisha had wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida. They also said she remained in contact with family members until around 10 pm on the night before her death. Assistant commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap, who is heading the SIT, earlier said a case had been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to dowry death and harassment against Samarth Singh and his mother. Officials said the SIT would investigate allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault and attempts to destroy evidence after Twisha’s death. An FIR in the case was registered on Friday against the former judge and her son. The retired judge later secured anticipatory bail from a sessions court, while the anticipatory bail plea of her son is scheduled to come up for hearing on Monday. Police records currently list husband as absconding.
