The Zaporozhye nuclear power station, the largest in Europe, has been a focal point of concern due to its proximity to the conflict zone in Ukraine.
MELITOPOL, June 20. /TASS/. The Zaporozhye nuclear power station has switched to backup diesel generators amid the loss of external power supply, the station said.
"Due to the shutdown of the protection of the line providing external power supply to the Zaporozhye nuclear power station, the station was switched to power from backup diesel generators," it said on Telegram.
The radiation background remained within natural limits after the external power supply to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was cut off, the station said.
"The radiation background at the station site and in the observation area is within the natural values and does not exceed the established norms," the station said on Telegram.
The safety systems of the Zaporozhye nuclear power station worked normally when the external power supply was turned off, the station said.
"The equipment worked in accordance with the design algorithms, there were no violations in the operation of the security systems," it said.
