A fast-spreading brush fire ignited Friday afternoon in a remote high desert region of Los Angeles County, prompting evacuation orders and warnings. The blaze reached 2,200 acres amid dry and scorching hot conditions, with temperatures nearing 100F.
A 12-year-old boy, Fernando Torres Moreno, drowned in a California lake after jumping in to escape three dogs. Another minor was injured by bites. Police are searching for the owner, Kenneth Dobbins, who has previous felony convictions.
D4vd (David Burke), a 21-year-old Houston-born alt-pop singer, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered body was found in September in his abandoned Tesla in Los Angeles.
