A 66-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and multiple terrorism offences following a car bomb attack on Dunmurry Police Station in Belfast on Saturday evening. The device, fitted to a hijacked delivery driver's car, was driven to the station and exploded in a residential area close to family homes where children were asleep. Police credited swift action by officers for preventing casualties. The attack is believed to have been carried out by dissident republican group the New IRA.

Counter Terrorism Policing has arrested seven people in the past 48 hours on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson targeting a Jewish community venue. The investigation follows a spate of attacks including Hatzola ambulances set alight in Golders Green and an attempted arson at Finchley Reform Synagogue. Since the first attack, 23 people have been arrested with eight charged. A 39-year-old man was also arrested after jars containing a non-hazardous substance were found near the Israeli Embassy.
