A nine-year-old Australian girl, Hania Ahmed, was killed by police in Pakistan's Punjab province when officers from a new crime control unit opened fire with machine guns during a robbery. Her father, Adeel Ahmed, is demanding justice and for the controversial police wing to be reformed.
Hong Kong will introduce a new open category allowing all permanent residents and locally registered companies to apply for 400 multiple-entry quota places to drive non-commercial private cars to Macau. The existing scheme for those working in Macau or with registered businesses will also be expanded to 1,000 places to improve use of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
China's visa-free policy for South Korean passport holders, extended for another year in November 2025, has driven a 36.9% increase in South Korean visitors to 3.16 million in 2025 – the highest growth rate among major outbound destinations. January 2026 saw over 300,000 South Korean entries, up 48% year-on-year, with a notable rise in Korean vloggers creating content about China.
