XRPL's $3.6B RWA Position Dominated by Single Energy Token as Infrastructure Thesis Emerges
XRPL holds $3.6 billion in real-world assets (excluding stablecoins), with $2.6 billion in represented assets and $1 billion in distributed. The JMWH energy token accounts for $1.76 billion—roughly half the total RWA value and 70% of the represented segment. Issued by Justoken in partnership with Argentine energy producer YPF Luz, JMWH represents one megawatt-hour of energy per token. The represented asset model uses blockchain as record-keeping infrastructure rather than for peer-to-peer transfer, aligning with XRPL's native compliance controls. While the Enertoken proof-of-concept suggests potential to push RWA value toward $4.5-5.5 billion, single-issuer concentration risk and competition from open distribution models present significant challenges.
