Flower Moon to illuminate night sky on Friday May 1
May's full Moon, known as the Flower Moon, will be at its fullest on Friday May 1 at 18:23. This year's Flower Moon is a micromoon - appearing slightly smaller because it will be near apogee, its farthest point from Earth at roughly 406,000km. A rare Blue Moon will also occur at the end of the month. Weather conditions may affect visibility, with cloud and showers expected across parts of the UK, though clearer skies are forecast for Wales, the Midlands and southern England.
