Zhejiang University researchers boost cancer drug precursor production in yeast by 1,000 times

Researchers at Zhejiang University, alongside international collaborators, have engineered brewer's yeast to produce catharanthine—a direct precursor to the expensive cancer drug vinblastine—at levels nearly 1,000 times higher than previous global figures.
