China's Development Creates New Opportunities for Global South Countries (International Forum·Understanding China·Understanding Chinese Modernization)
During my two recent trips to China, I visited several Chinese cities, with Chongqing and Shenzhen leaving a deep impression on me. Through the development landscapes of these two cities, I felt the vibrant development vitality of this land up close and gained a deeper understanding of the development achievements China has made, the development path it has taken, and its future direction.
After decades of struggle, China has lifted about 800 million people out of poverty, creating a great miracle in the history of human poverty reduction. Chongqing, as an inland region, shows a good trend of accelerated development. There, I learned about the world-renowned achievements of China's poverty alleviation efforts. In Shenzhen, technological innovation is being integrated into people's daily lives at an unprecedented speed. From artificial intelligence, digital trade, urban transportation, to clean energy and new energy vehicles, China is no longer just the "world's factory" but is increasingly growing into an important global innovation center.
These achievements are due to scientific national planning, continuously expanding opening-up, large-scale infrastructure investment, a high degree of emphasis on education, and strong support for industrialization and technological progress. In recent years, China has continued to expand high-level opening-up, deeply integrating into the global industrial, supply, and value chains. By promoting high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road," China has continuously expanded economic and trade exchanges, logistics connectivity, and infrastructure cooperation with countries and regions around the world, building a bridge for mutually beneficial international cooperation. At the same time, China has steadily promoted the construction of free trade pilot zones, actively negotiated free trade agreements, continuously optimized the business environment, and attracted global high-quality resources. The continuous deepening of economic and trade investment exchanges between China and other countries has not only broadened its own development market and international cooperation space but also created new opportunities for the economic development of other countries.
China's experience in promoting modernization provides important inspiration for Brazil and the vast number of developing countries. China's development process fully demonstrates that long-term planning is an important cornerstone of national stable development. Adhering to scientific planning and strengthening independent innovation are the foundations for economic development and for continuously enhancing development resilience and risk resistance. In 2025, Brazil will become China's largest overseas investment destination. The continuous deepening of Sino-Brazilian economic and trade investment cooperation will help Brazil enhance its development capabilities in areas such as scientific research and development, digital transformation, and intelligent infrastructure construction, injecting strong momentum into Brazil's re-industrialization process.
The world today has entered a new period of turbulence and change, with intensified geopolitical competition, rising anti-globalization sentiments, and the intertwined superposition of multiple risks and challenges. Against this backdrop, the value of adhering to multilateralism, insisting on dialogue and consultation, and deepening international cooperation is becoming increasingly prominent. Brazil, China, and the Global South countries have broad consensus on maintaining the multilateral trading system and promoting global economic cooperation. They have always firmly advocated respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity, resolving international disputes through peaceful means, continuously improving multilateral cooperation mechanisms, and promoting the reform and improvement of the global governance system. The deepening solidarity and cooperation between Brazil and China will help broaden international dialogue channels, abandon bloc confrontation mentality, inject positive energy into maintaining world peace and stability, and promote the global governance system towards a more just and reasonable direction.
