Cockroach Janata Party Meets JP Nadda Over NEET-UG Paper Leak Demands Amid Protests

NEW DELHI: A delegation of Cockroach Janata Party met Union minister JP Nadda on Monday and submitted its petition demanding accountability from the government over the NEET-UG paper leak case. According to CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, the meeting with Nadda was under way, with the Union minister seeking time to consult the government leadership on the party's demands. The demands include the immediate release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide. "Me and Saurav Das are still at Nadda ji's residence. Nadda ji has requested some time to align with their leadership with regards to our following demands: Immediate release of Sonam Wangchuk, Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, Rs 1 crore compensation for all NEET aspirants who committed suicide," Ranka said in a post on X. CJP spokesperson Sourav said while Nadda assured them that he will discuss the demands at the appropriate level, but not commitments have been given so far. He added that the protest will continue "until the demand is met." "Ashutosh Ranka and I have been at JP Nadda’s residence since 12 noon. The demands have been conveyed, including immediate resignation/sacking of Dharmendra Pradhan," Das said. "The minister assured us he will discuss this at the appropriate level. However, no commitments have been made so far. The peaceful protesters will not rest until the demand is met!" he added. According to Das, Nadda also assured the delegation that no further crackdown will happen at CJP's protest site.'Assist administration in restoring normalcy' After the meeting, Nadda said that the meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and requested all the protestors to end their protest and "assist the administration in restoring normalcy." "This morning, for the first time, a proposal came from the protesters to hold talks with the government, and our discussions have been ongoing since 11:50 AM," Nadda said in a social media post on X. "The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. An initial verbal discussion was held in detail with their delegation, and they submitted a written petition to me around 4 PM. I have requested all the protesters to end their sit-in and assist the administration in restoring normalcy," he added.Amit Shah meets Pradhan "The minister has also assured us that no further crackdown will happen at Jantar Mantar and around. However, no reports yet of police stopping," he added. Meanwhile, Union home minister Amit Shah met Pradhan at his office in the Parliament House complex. Officials did not disclose what transpired during the meeting. This comes as thousands tried to march to Parliament as part of the Cockroach Janta Party's protest call to demand the former's resignation over alleged examination irregularities. Outside Parliament, police used tear gas and mild force after demonstrators allegedly attempted to breach barricades and march towards the Parliament complex. Several protesters were detained. Security was tightened across central Delhi, with Rapid Action Force personnel deployed at key locations to prevent any breach. As a precautionary measure, several gates at Metro stations in the area were temporarily closed, affecting commuters. At least seven CJP protesters, including Abhijeet Dipke, were detained near the Reserve Bank of India, close to Parliament, during the party's 'Sansad Chalo' march, PTI reported.
