Designed to “bring the world’s biggest party to Hong Kong”, the initiative will begin in earnest when a world-famous player attends the second of four themed nights at Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday.
Officials would not say who the player was, but highlighted his star power beyond the game.
Lenovo, the official technology partner of the Fifa World Cup 2026, will house an AI-powered football zone at the racecourse that “features interactive experiences and digital activations [showcasing] how technology is transforming sports performance, event operations and fan engagement”.
Hong Kong will be the only city outside the tournament’s host regions where fans can experience the Lenovo zone.
“Football fever is already starting around the world, and here in Hong Kong,” said Casper Stylsvig, executive director, sports business, of the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), as he announced a “strategic alliance aimed at embracing innovation, entertainment and fan engagement”.
