Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones; Ukraine hits Russian oil refinery

In the night, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 221 drones of various types. Ukrainian air defense shot down 195 drones. This is stated by the Ukrainian Air Force, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.

Ukrainian drones, on the other hand, attacked the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia, causing a serious fire inside the plant. A condominium in the same region of southern Russia was also hit, with two people injured.

The Kuibyshev oil refinery, owned by the Russian oil giant Rosneft and located in the city of Samara, has completely halted crude oil processing following a drone attack that occurred on the night between June 9 and 10. Ukrainska Pravda reports this, referencing a Reuters report that cites two sources from the oil and gas sector. According to the sources, oil processing has been suspended in both primary crude oil distillation units, CDU-4 and CDU-5. Each unit has a capacity of approximately 10,000 metric tons (73,000 barrels) per day. The drone attack caused significant damage to the equipment and triggered fires, rendering the refinery incapable of operating. The refinery is considered a major producer of fuel, including for the needs of the Russian army. According to the sources, in 2024 the Kuibyshev refinery processed 4.7 million tons of crude oil, equivalent to about 94,400 barrels per day. In the same period, the plant produced 800,000 tons of gasoline, 1.4 million tons of diesel fuel, and 1.3 million tons of fuel oil.
